Man arrested in Hanford on several charges including assault

HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested after being accused of assault and making criminal threats.

Hanford police were called out to a home on Lassen Drive near Florinda Street yesterday morning.

Schools nearby were placed on temporary lockdown because the assault suspect was possibly armed with a gun.

Investigators say the man, identified as Andrew Yanez, attacked and threatened the victim, who was holding a child.

Officers tried to speak with him at his home, but he refused to come out.

Eventually, Yanez surrendered and was arrested on charges of domestic violence, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon and child endangerment.

He was booked into the Kings County jail.
