FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The man shot by police in southeast Fresno last Friday has been identified.
The Fresno Police Department identified the man as 42-year-old Ricardo Leon of Fresno.
The incident happened on June 5 when investigators say Leon came to his family home armed and was not wanted, prompting concern.
When officers arrived at the home, they say they met with Leon to try and difusse the situation.
At one point, police said the man presented a firearm as a threat, and officers opened fire, killing him.
Action News returned to the neighborhood Monday and spoke with the suspect's mother and sister, who said they were saddened by the death and believe the situation unfolded differently than described by police.
Neighbors said the incident came as a shock and ended in tragedy.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
