Man killed in head-on crash with dump truck in Merced County, CHP says

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is dead following a head-on crash in Merced County early Tuesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol says it happened around 6:20 am on Highway 59 south of Oakdale.

Officers say a man was driving a Ford Fusion when his car crossed over and crashed head-on with a dump truck.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

Officers are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The truck driver was not hurt.
