McDonald's operator inside Dinuba Walmart issues statement regarding rodents

DINUBA, Calif. (KFSN) -- The McDonald's located in a Dinuba Walmart released a statement regarding the rats found inside the restaurant.

An Action News Insider shared a video from the fast-food chain on El Monte Way and Alta Avenue showing rodents crawling across the restaurant, which worried Walmart customers.

Tulare County's Environmental Health Division said it received complaints about rats on March 6 and the McDonald's closed immediately.

The McDonald's owner and operator, Javier Torres, issued a statement on Tuesday, saying, "We have been working closely with the Tulare County Health Department and third-party professionals. Based on their guidance, we conducted a comprehensive deep cleaning of all food preparation, service, and storage areas, and other preventative treatments to ensure the restaurant met cleanliness and food safety standards.

It went on to say, "This is an ongoing, building-level issue, as over the past several months, other tenants and ourselves have experienced occasional pest activity within shared areas of the building. Consistent with McDonald's operating protocols, any concerns have been promptly reported by our restaurant team to building management so they could be addressed."

The statement concluded, saying, "Based on the most recent follow-up with the Tulare County Health Department, the remaining area under review is a shared space within the building. To ensure we are delivering on our commitment to a safe environment for our crew and our guests, we will reopen once it is determined safe to do so."
