The storm will push through as millions of people travel to their holiday destinations.

The wet weather could create hazards for holiday travelers, including in Central California.

Showers will begin to move in late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

Widespread rain will reach the Valley floor, and heavy snow will fall in the Sierra Nevada and foothills.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the mountains from Tuesday through Sunday.

There's a chance for scattered showers on Christmas Eve, with more rain moving in on Christmas Day.

The California Highway Patrol reminds drivers to check their tires and windshield wipers before heading out on the roads.

Those traveling in the mountains should carry tire chains. Travelers will also want to make sure they have an extra jacket, blanket, snacks and water just in case they're caught in a road delay.

ABC30's Accuweather team is tracking the storm and will continue to provide the latest updates.
