Search underway for man accused of attempted murder in Mariposa County

MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- An urgent search is underway in Mariposa County, as sheriff's deputies search for an attempted murder suspect accused of attacking someone with a sword.

Deputies say 41-year-old Jonathan Mishael Bays used a large samurai-style sword to attack a victim Saturday night at the Creekside Apartments in Mariposa.

The victim suffered injuries to the hand, wrist, shoulder, and head.

Investigators say Bays was last seen running from the apartments toward a trail leading to the jail area.

He is considered armed and dangerous and may be using different names.
