Authorities said about 600 to 700 firefighters were called in to fight the fire on Friday morning. Officials have evacuated about 250 people along Sierra Sky Ranch Road.

The fire began Thursday afternoon after a vehicle fire on Sky Ranch Road north of Oakhurst. It began with a pickup truck that was towing a trailer. There is no word on exactly how it caused the fire, and no word on who was in the truck, which was found in the middle of the road.

Firefighters worked hard by ground and air to fight the fire. The fire threatened a handful of campgrounds and private residences, and Calvin Crest Christian Camp had to be evacuated. They spent the night at a Red Cross shelter in Oakhurst. One of the camp's directors says they did an amazing job to get all the kids out safe. But the camp he grew up going to, could now be gone.

"I don't know if it's on fire or not so all of us are sort of sitting here on pins and needles and praying and just trying to make sense of this time right now," said Ryan McKenzie with Calvin Crest Christian Camp.
