Suspected DUI driver arrested after crashing into Visalia Carl's Jr., police say

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A driver is facing DUI charges following a crash that ended with one vehicle crashing into a fast-food restaurant.

It happened a little after 8:30 pm Monday at the intersection of Ben Maddox and Main.

Police say 30-year-old Brandon Smith was driving north on Ben Maddox in a GMC truck when he went through a red light and hit a Toyota minivan heading east on Main.

The truck then crashed into the corner of a Carl's Jr.

No one inside the restaurant or the minivan was hurt.

Police say Smith was driving under the influence of alcohol, but was taken to the hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.
