Yosemite National Park seeing concerns of dangerous overcrowding

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (KFSN) -- The increase in crowds comes after the elimination of the park's reservation system, making visits fully open to the public any day.

Videos show hikers sandwiched together while traveling up and down trails.

The increase in crowds comes after the elimination of the park's reservation system, making visits fully open to the public any day.

One area in particular -- the Vernal Falls section of the Mist Trail hike in Yosemite was especially crowded along its narrow walkway.

Hikers were seen in video packed together against the railing above a 1,000-foot drop.

June, July and August are considered Yosemite's peak season.
