Yosemite National Park warning visitors about 'summer branch drop' season

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (KFSN) -- Yosemite National Park Rangers want you to watch out for that tree branch.

They're sending out a warning during this summer sizzle.

Park officials say "summer branch drop" happens on hot, calm days -- especially among its black oaks.

The breaks are typically horizontal to the trees, unlike those that occur during high winds.

Rangers advise visitors not to sit or sleep below black oaks on hot days.

Guests are also urged to avoid trees that look damaged and get away quickly if you hear a cracking sound.
