FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Retired NFL player and former Fresno State standout Michael Pittman has withdrawn his name as an inductee into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame.

Pittman played at Fresno State in the late 1990s and earned All-WAC honors twice as a Bulldog. He went on to win a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Pittman was to be inducted with the 2014 Hall of Fame class but asked to have his name withdrawn because of his involvement in domestic violence in 2001 and 2003.

Pittman felt in light of the scandal rocking the league, he didn't want to bring any embarrassment to the Hall, Fresno State or his family.
