FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Kings County inmate has been charged with conspiring to kill a jail correctional officer in an elaborate scheme.

Kings County investigators say 35-year-old Angel Hernandez of Armona planned the attack from behind bars. The plan involved assaults on the staff member outside the jail, within the community. During a two month long investigation, officers found several weapons inside the jail that had been manufactured especially for an assault on jail staff.

Hernandez has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder with a gang enhancement and prior strikes. His bail is set at $1 million.
