Investigators say Rutherford fired the first shots -- hitting one woman in the hip.
That woman turned out to be Cook's mother. Deputies believe Rutherford returned fire before taking off in a pickup truck. Deputies sealed off a two square mile area -- looking for the suspects.
Chris Curtice, Fresno Sheriff's Office: "The victims, the suspects, everybody involved knows each other. There are some domestic issues I can't get into right now. Detectives are trying to sort out-- it's kind of a mess-- but they're trying to sort it out.
Cook's mother was not seriously hurt. Anyone with information in this case should call the Fresno County Sheriff's Department.
