Police investigate death of 4-month-old

DIXON, CA

Sgt. Ron Willingmyre said the Dixon Fire Department was called to the child's father's house at 1125 Pembroke Way at 4:24 p.m. Oct. 14 because the infant was not breathing.

The fire engine was still on its way to the home when it was flagged down at the intersection of North Lincoln Street and Stratford Avenue by someone who had the child, Willingmyre said.

Fire personnel began giving CPR to the infant, and he was then taken to Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis and transferred to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento where he died Oct. 16, Willingmyre said.

The cause of death has not been determined and the case is still under investigation, he said.

Willingmyre said police became involved when doctors who examined the child at the hospital reported the infant had suffered "suspicious injuries."

Willingmyre said police are not "singling anyone out as a suspect" and are awaiting autopsy results.
