Body found floating in Central Fresno canal

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating the cause of death after a body was found floating in a Central Fresno canal.

Investigators were called to the canal Wednesday night near First and Shields around 7:30. Officers said a man who was walking, noticed the body and alerted firefighters at a nearby fire station.

The identity of the man is still unknown. Police believe the man had been dead for several days.
