Driver rushed to hospital after crashing into traffic signal in East Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A driver is in the hospital after he crashed his car into a traffic signal near Shields and Chestnut Avenues.

Police say the driver was headed northbound on Chestnut Avenue and hit a traffic signal while making a turn, just after 4 p.m. on Saturday.

One lane of traffic was closed, as emergency crews arrived, to rush to the driver to the hospital.

Highway patrol officers are investigating what caused the driver to crash.
