FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of Valley students is ready to sing back-up on a classic rock ballad and perform with Foreigner at the Madera District Fair.

The Madera South High School choir is always rehearsing for their next performance. But Roger Harabedian also has his students preparing to take the stage with Foreigner.

Many people can sing the lyrics to "I Want to Know What Love Is." Some of the Madera South kids grew up with the song.

Senior Ashley Steinhauer said, "Before we actually started I knew who Foreigner was and I love Foreigner honestly. It's really exciting."

Freshman Grace Nunley added, "I was so excited and I was like really happy I was getting a big opportunity."

Harabedian was thankful Foreigner sought out a local choir.

He said, "It's really neat when I tell my friends, hey we get to be on stage with Foreigner. They're like no way you get to be on stage with the rock group Foreigner."

Harabedian used to listen to their songs on his 8-track. Now the kids sing along to the CD.

Harabedian must select the top 25 students from Madera South and Madera High to take the stage on Saturday.

The kids were ready to nail the audition.

Freshman Jessica Petersen said, "Know the notes, the cutoffs and to enjoy doing it. Have fun."
