Fresno police give family special holiday cheer

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are usually known for making arrests and solving crimes but on Monday, some of them got the chance to show off their softer sides.

Officers with Fresno's Southeast Policing District adopted a family this Christmas through the United Way.

The parents and kids requested basic things like notebooks and pencils for school and home cleaning supplies. But the police officers union and police officers went above and beyond -- delivering dozens of wrapped gifts, bicycles for all the children.

Several businesses, including Walmart, also donated gift cards to the family.
