GLENDORA, Calif. -- An attempted murder suspect being chased by police on the 210 Freeway in Glendora bailed on foot and got hit by a car early Thursday morning.

Police said the suspect was under investigation for an incident that occurred last Sunday in South Gate. Authorities said the pursuit likely started outside the suspect's home in Azusa around 1 a.m. when the suspect jumped in his car and fled from police.

Investigators said the suspect was traveling eastbound on westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway. When he reached the 57 Freeway, the suspect got out of his car and tried to flee on foot.

Authorities said the suspect hopped over the center median onto the eastbound lanes, and that's when he was struck by a white Toyota.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.

All lanes on both directions of the 210 Freeway were shut down due to the incident. Traffic was diverted off at the 57 Freeway. California Highway Patrol began reopening some westbound lanes shortly before 3:30 a.m. All westbound lanes reopened by 6 a.m. and all eastbound lanes were back open about an hour later.
