Perez was convicted and sentenced in 2014, but appellate court kicked it back for improper instructions.
On Thursday, a judge sentenced Jose Angel Perez to 80 years to life in prison for the second degree murders of Nath Ouch and her unborn child.
Nath Ouch's life ended with a bullet to the back in 2006. The 20-year-old was eight months pregnant when she stepped into a parking lot with a pot of soup for her husband. She and her unborn baby both died in a hail of gunfire. Her family didn't meet her daughter until the funeral.
After the murder, Perez escaped to Mexico after the shooting and lived there for five years before Fresno police caught him. He was the last of 11 people to be punished for the murder.
In 2014, Perez was sentenced to life with no possibility of parole. An appellate court sent the conviction back to the court due to improper instructions to the jury.
