Kings River reopened to recreational use in Fresno County
Authorities warn that swimmers should still wear life jackets at all times and use good judgment when entering the water.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno County Sheriff's Office opened the Kings River for recreational use Monday.

The opening comes after Tulare County and Kings County authorities reopened river access in their areas last week.

A record level of snowmelt this season forced authorities to close off the river in late spring after multiple drownings and flooding along the river.

Authorities warn that swimmers should still wear life jackets at all times and use good judgment when entering the water.
