Trump's cabinet picks include close allies from his campaignPresident-elect Donald Trump is naming members to his administration. Here's a look at the president-elect's appointees so far.
Just days after former President Donald Trump was projected to have won the presidency, Trump's transition team operation has begun, with transition co-chairs confirming that he will be selecting personnel to serve under his leadership in the coming days.
Trump is also the projected winner in Arizona, a state the former president flipped after losing it to Joe Biden in 2020.
Trump's projected win in the vital swing state marks a sweep of the battleground states.
ABC News projects that Trump will three of Nebraska's five electoral votes -- two from the statewide count, and one from the 3rd District. The 2nd Congressional District, which covers the Omaha area, hasn't been projected yet, and Harris has a much better shot at winning its one electoral vote.

Trump will win battleground North Carolina
ABC News is projecting that Trump is expecting to win North Carolina's 16 electoral votes. This is one of several swing states to watch tonight, as it shifted from a "lean Republican" to a "toss-up" state after Harris joined the presidential race.
The state has been competitive in presidential years past. In 2016, Trump narrowly won North Carolina by roughly four percentage points. But in 2020, the former president's margin narrowed to just 1 percentage point. As Election Day votes continue to trickle in, and with 89% of the expected vote in, Trump leads Harris, 51% to 48%.

Harris' best path is through the 'Blue Wall'
It is increasingly looking like Harris' best -- and perhaps only -- path to 270 electoral votes is by winning the three "Blue Wall" states: Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. These states are so named because they voted for Democrats in every presidential election from 1992 to 2012, helping give Democrats a bulwark in the Electoral College. But Trump flipped them in 2016, and ever since, they have been near-essential for Democrats in order to win.
Going into Election Day, surveys indicated that, among the seven main swing states, Harris was polling the best in these three states. She would have liked to have won some of the Sun Belt states, sure, but the northern battlegrounds were more fertile ground. As things stand right now in those states, more votes have been counted for Trump than for Harris, but late-counted ballots are expected to be more Democratic, so they are probably still her best bet to win.

Rep. Adam Schiff projected to win California senate seat
Democratic U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff is expected to defeat Republican Steve Garvey in the race for California's U.S. Senate seat formerly held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, ABC News projects.
Schiff and Garvey are running in two separate elections: one for the full six-year term and the other for the remaining weeks of Feinstein's unexpired term. Schiff was well ahead in both races.
