FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Bakersfield Police say they have caught the man who led an officer on a chase that ended his life.
Police received an anonymous call from someone who said they saw the silver Hyundai that Bakersfield Police Officer David Nelson was chasing. His patrol car burst into flames Friday morning, and Officer Nelson died at the hospital shortly after.
Police arrested the suspect, 32-year-old Julian Hernandez, and recovered a shotgun and the vehicle matching the description. He is in custody at the Kern County Jail. Bakersfield Police are crediting an anonymous caller who gave them information leading them to Hernandez.
