CHP officer injured in rear-end crash off Highway 99, 180 interchange

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A California Highway Patrol officer was injured after being hit by a vehicle off Highway 99 in Fresno on Thursday evening.

CHP says the motorcycle officer was slowing down to help a disabled vehicle on the side of the road on the southbound Highway 99 and Highway 180 interchange when a vehicle came up from behind and rear-ended the officer, throwing him off his bike.

The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver who hit the officer stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers.

It is unknown if DUI was a factor in the accident.
