VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A slice of heaven awaits you at The Planing Mill, a cool spot on East Center Avenue in Visalia.
Pie after pie, Tino Rodriguez keeps the unique combos coming.
"One thing the Valley, the entire Valley was missing, especially Visalia, was a true hand-crafted artisan pizzeria," says Managing Partner Tim Lewis.
We got a look at the Thai Pie, with has a Pad Thai base, sauce, pesto, grilled chicken and serranos.
Sweet and spicy sauce tops a pizza with peanuts.
"The '3 Little Pigs' is probably our favorite," says customer Marta Rodriguez. "It's our go-to pizza. We've introduced it to quite a few family members."
"It's got bacon, Canadian bacon and sausage, and then this big pile of house onion straws," Lewis said.
The slices are heavy.
"This is our Detroit-style pizza," Lewis said. "Deep dish. The signature style of Detroit is this cheese crown around the outside."
Lewis said the cheese is local -- from Lemoore.
One night, Thai sauce was accidentally mixed into the wings, but now they're a signature item.
"The food is always great," Rodriguez said.
"I think everyone just loves the uniqueness of what we do," Lewis said.
Including something with a bite.
Lewis showed us the Nashville wings, served with spicy pickle chips.
The bar has plenty of beer to pour.
"We have seven of our own in-house beers that we contract with local breweries," Lewis said.
Lewis has noticed the ultimate compliment.
"We have seen suspiciously similar dishes at other pizzerias around the Valley," he said.
