FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Standard on Fort Washington and Friant in northeast Fresno is well-known on the nightclub scene, but this spot's also cookin' for dinner.
"I definitely think everybody would be impressed, especially on the restaurant side," says owner Steve Bisla. "Late night, everybody already knows what we do."
"We kind of have two demographics," says general manager Raj Bisla. "We have the dinner demographic that comes and enjoys our amazing food, and then we have some of that nightlife aspect and sometimes, they blend together."
Chef Danny Luera is assisted by his son, Logan, in the kitchen.
"Chef Danny does an amazing job," Raj said. "His background I think is in Asian cooking, so some of that will showcase in some of the dishes."
The miso glaze gives the salmon a nice sweet taste.
"We keep a lot of things with the family, so we have Danny and his son, and then, obviously, with my background, with Steve as our owner, I'm his nephew," Raj said.
The menu is diverse.
"There was a very famous restaurant in Vegas that got really popular and their spicy rigatoni was their top seller so I said, let's see if we can do something like that and elevate it in our own way," Raj said.
The Standard was recently remodeled.
"Our number-one selling appetizer, which is fantastic, is our calamari steak," Raj said. "We do it a little differently than the tentacle-style calamari."
Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside.
We got a taste of the bread pudding for dessert.
The Bislas have enjoyed breaking bread with the dinner crowd. They hear from customers all the time.
The Standard hosts many private events.
Dinner is only served Thursday through Saturday.
