NEW YORK CITY -- It was a big night for Disney Cruise Line on Tuesday.

Its newest ship, the Disney Treasure, took part in an important maritime tradition: getting christened in New York Harbor with a dazzling drone show.

The Disney Treasure took part in an important maritime tradition: getting christened in New York Harbor.

The Disney Treasure is the sixth vessel in the Disney Cruise Line fleet inspired by stories from from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. For the first time onboard a Disney Cruise Line, Disney Parks adventures are part of the experience.

Spaces on board the Disney Treasure will invite guests to venture to the imaginary town square of Santa Cecilia in the world's first theatrical dining experience themed to the Disney and Pixar film, "Coco;" indulge in themed cocktails at venues inspired by the iconic Disney Parks attractions, the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea;" hop into a sweet shop reminiscent of Disney's "Zootopia;" and embark on a tale across land and sea during the Broadway-style production, "Disney The Tale of Moana."

To celebrate the launch of its new ship, the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line is introducing Treasure Tomorrow, a new initiative that expands Disney's commitment to creating lasting, positive impacts in the port communities we call home across Florida and throughout the Caribbean. In the Disney Treasure's home port in Brevard County, Disney Cruise Line is teaming up with the Brevard Schools Foundation to sponsor career exploration programs. Through this initiative, the cruise line hopes to inspire local students to learn about new and exciting careers.

The Disney Treasure will embark on its maiden voyage, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise, out of Port Canaveral on December 21, followed by an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral.

Construction on the massive ship started in January 2023 and the project finally wrapped up and was delivered in October 2024.

Disney is the parent company of ABC OTV stations.
