FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The driver accused of a road rage shooting that severely injured a Reedley man has pleaded not guilty.

23-year-old Devin Atondo faces charges that include attempted murder in connection with the July 11 shooting on Highway 180 near McCall Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Atondo fired at a vehicle carrying 22-year-old Angel De La Cruz during a roadway disagreement.

De La Cruz was struck in the head, losing an eye. He has remained in the hospital since the shooting.

A judge ordered that Atondo be held without bail due to his lengthy criminal history. The judge also noted that Atondo was already out on bail in a separate case at the time of the shooting.

Atondo is scheduled to return to court September 3.
