Man in central Fresno shooting dies from injuries, identified, Fresno Police confirms

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The man who was shot and taken to the hospital after a fight broke out Sunday afternoon in central Fresno has died from his injuries.

The Fresno Police Department also confirmed the identity of the victim as 26-year-old Juan Alvarez.

Fresno Police say they were called to the area of Angus Street and Yale Avenue, where they found Alvarez lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

According to police, Alvarez was shot during the fight. Detectives are investigating exactly what led to the fight and shooting.

No arrests have been made.
