Man found dead inside submerged vehicle in Bear Creek in Merced County, CHP says

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man was found dead in an overturned vehicle submerged in Bear Creek, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the water on South Bear Creek Road, east of Piedmont Drive, just before 5 p.m. on Monday.

When officers arrived, they discovered the body of a 45-year-old man inside the overturned vehicle.

Investigators have not determined when the vehicle left the roadway and entered Bear Creek. Authorities believe the crash may have occurred Sunday night.

The incident remains under investigation.
