Man killed in overnight shooting in Merced, police say

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is dead after being shot overnight in Merced.

Officers headed out to Childs Avenue near "R" Street for reports of gunshots after 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police found a man near a park who had been shot.

The man died from his injuries.

Investigators believe this was not a random shooting.

Detectives learned that the gunfire likely happened on Stuart Drive near West Avenue.

No suspects have been arrested in the investigation.
