TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Monday afternoon is the public viewing for Tulare County Deputy Randy Hoppert.

The slain detective was shot and killed on April 9.

Deputies were assisting with an armed suspect who opened fire as officials tried to serve an eviction notice.

Hoppert was hit during the response and died at Sierra View Hospital in Porterville.

After an hours-long standoff, the suspect was eventually killed by an armored vehicle.

A public viewing for the fallen deputy happens Monday afternoon at Visalia First Assembly from 4 pm to 7 pm, with the procession beginning at 2:30 pm.

It will be followed by a funeral service Tuesday at that same location, which starts at 10 am.

The first procession departs at 9:30 am, with Caldwell Avenue closed to traffic.

A second procession will escort Deputy Hoppert from the church to Salser and Dillard Funeral Home.
