FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A highly anticipated new bar and restaurant is officially welcoming customers.
Moses McQueen held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Van Ness near Highway 41 in Downtown Fresno on Tuesday.
"It's a place that is creating jobs and based on the number of folks coming here on a daily basis, there will be a lot of jobs created at this location and it also increases our tax base,'' Fresno mayor Jerry Dyer said.
The eatery made its formal debut earlier this month.
"It is a place that has an incredible vibe," Dyer said. "A vibe that attracts people from all walks of life."
Moses McQueen's is inside a historic 100-year-old home that many have lived in, including Adrian Collazo, who called it home for 25 years.
"That was our balcony, and it was fun here," Collazo said, pointing to the second story of the business.
He says he's glad to see the house get new life.
"I love it," Collazo stated. "The backyard, when we had it, we had parties and that's what it seems like now. You can have parties back there. Fixed up nice."
On the first floor, a full bar with cozy seating. In the back, classic American cuisine is served out of a food truck.
This has been years in the making.
"This is a love letter to Fresno. We hope everyone comes out and enjoys it." Moses McQueen's co-owner, Phillip Kliewer, said.
This project has enjoyed community support with construction students at Duncan Polytechnical High School pouring the concrete and installing the landscape, all helping to turn an idea into reality.
Moses McQueen's is open seven days a week with varying hours for all to enjoy.
