SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Golden Bears from Hanford struck gold in Sacramento on Saturday, winning Sierra Pacific High's second title in school history.
Sierra Pacific defeated Saint Joseph's of Bakersfield 56-47 in the CIF D-II State girls basketball championship game.
It was senior captain Apajok Ayuen's final time playing with her two sisters, Nyang and Ayak. All three sisters combined for 39 points, 21 rebounds and 10 assists.
The game's MVP, sophomore Lylah Love, had 13 points with three triples in just the first half.
In head coach Victor Chavarin Jr.'s second year at the helm, he brings the state title back to Hanford.
"It's extremely rewarding to see their hard work pay off and to bring another state championship to Sierra Pacific is an amazing feeling," Chavarin said.
"To end it off, on my senior year, with two rings... it means so much like it's a good ending," Apajok said.
The last time Sierra Pacific girls' basketball won a state title was in the D-V bracket back in 2018.
