Suspect arrested after crashing stolen truck during chase in Merced

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect was taken into custody after crashing a stolen vehicle during a car chase in Merced, the California Highway Patrol says.

Officers say it started when someone called authorities while they were following their stolen truck.

It was reported stolen from a church this morning.

Officials found the suspect driving near Santa Fe Road and Olive Avenue.

They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect drove off, which started a pursuit.

It ended when the truck crashed into a tree on 16th and T streets.

No one was injured. The suspect was arrested.
