Terry Bradley Education Center opening new facilities as Clovis Unified campus continues to expand
CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Students returning to the Terry Bradley Education Center this week will find more than just new classes and teachers. They will also have access to several new facilities as Clovis Unified continues construction on its newest campus.
The Terry Bradley Education Center, which opened in 2025, has been designed to grow in phases. District leaders say that vision is becoming reality as another round of projects reaches completion.
"We've been kind of incrementally opening this center as we go with a plan from the get-go to have this building grow alongside of us," said Nick Mele, Clovis Unified's assistant superintendent of facility services.
One of the biggest additions this year is the completion of the Industrial Arts Building, which will house the school's new Aviation and Aerospace Science Pathway. The Career Technical Education program will give students hands-on experience in a rapidly growing field.
Nearby, the campus swimming pools are also complete and ready for student use. Staff recently celebrated the milestone with a ceremonial first plunge into the water.
The performing arts program is also set to receive dedicated facilities. By the end of 2026, drama, band and choir will each have its own building.
Student-athletes are seeing major improvements as well. While students have been using smaller gyms since the school opened, a new competition gymnasium is nearing completion.
"By the time basketball season starts, our goal is that they'll be in our big competition gym. We're very proud of it," Mele said.
Football players and fans will also benefit from a new stadium experience. The school is constructing a sunken football field featuring stadium seating, restrooms and concession stands on both sides of the venue.
"The plan is our September home game. They'll have access to that, and we'll have our first home game here," Mele said.
Construction remains active across portions of the campus, with temporary fencing surrounding work zones. The first academic wing of the high school is currently under construction and is expected to open in the spring.
For Mele, seeing students return is what brings the years of planning and construction to life.
"It's always neat for us to see. When you spend years on something, it doesn't become real until you see students in the classroom," he said.
The Terry Bradley Education Center still has an additional increment to complete. The seventh and final stage of construction will include two more academic wings for the high school and a new event center, which is already under construction next to the football field.
District officials expect the entire campus project to be completed in 2028.
