The Tulare County Fair is underway

TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) -- Organizers are coming off a record year in 2014 when more than 106-thousand people flocked to the fairgrounds.

The Tulare County Fair kicked off Wednesday with a steady stream of people ready to see what this year's festivities hold.

A new deep-fried treat has been created by Sweet Cheeks. A peanut butter and jelly cheesecake, deep fried then topped with bubblegum icing and powdered sugar. reator Jacquie Bradbury says calories don't count at the Fair. That's something Tulare Fair CEO Pam Fyock agrees with. "We've got off the hook fair food and it's in a calorie free zone so there's no calories at the Tulare County Fair," Fyock says.

Fyock says last year they had more than 106,000 people attend the Fair. This year they're hoping to top that record. Organizers hope the cooler temperatures will help boost their numbers. There's also new exhibits for attendees to try like camel rides.

"A lot of people are in awe because they're big and they're prehistoric looking," says Kristina Oliver, with the Camel Rides.

Oliver says camels can eat almost anything and go weeks without eating or drinking. She adds they're also gentle enough for anyone to ride as long as they can hold on.

There's a new ride on the Midway for 2015. The Olympic Bobsled includes twists, turns, climbs and drops you'd find in any amusement ride. A new FASTPass wristband lets riders go to the front of all ride lines for $50 on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Gates open each day at 11am to the public. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for kids. There's also free live entertainment each night that is included with ticket prices. More information can be found at TCFair.org. The Fair goes until Sunday.
