Friday Begins African American History Month

KFSN Fresno State's Step Team made the trip across town for a special demonstration during Thursday opening ceremonies.

Then Key-note speaker Lynette Woodard spoke to the crowd.

The two-time Olympic basketball player talked about how humble beginnings in her home state of Kansas didn't stop her from achieving her goals.

Lynnette Woodard: "Growing up, there was a story I always loved and it was "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. And I learned there to follow my dreams, to follow the Yellow Brick Road."

Events celebrating African American History continue throughout the month.
