The former lawyer is now trying to prove he was insane when the crimes happened more than six years ago.
At one time ... Morris made millions as an injury lawyer. But Morris said a series of tragic events ruined his life and contributed to his mental illness.
"The only reason I was convicted of two was because I was too sick to explain to the attorney what happened. Now, I am well and able to explain it. As you watch this trial and see what happened, you will see they weren't crimes at all," said Morris.
Wednesday Morris testified in his own defense. Next week ... A jury is expected to begin deliberating the case.
If they find Morris insane at the time of the crimes ... He could avoid time in custody.
