Wind Downs Trees, Power Lines in North Valley

FRESNO, Calif. The high winds also destroyed a barn in El Nido and downed more than a dozen power poles on Highway 140 near Thorton. Several trees landed on top of homes and branches from one ended up in a Merced County home. Juan Vazquez worked through the rain to try and keep water from coming through the roof, but seemed to take the incident in stride. "We need the water ... what can we say? We need the water. We were lucky that no one was home. That's the main thing," said Vazquez.
