Services all over the Valley honor brave troops who were killed during war.
Anita Richards' son Staff Sgt. Frank Gasper died in Iraq in 2008. Terri Pickard lost her son 20-year-old Cpl. Joshua Pickard 3-and-a-half years ago. Robin Hopper lost her son just seven months ago while he was serving in Iraq. These three women who shared a tragic and unique bond met for the first time today lending each other support.
This Memorial Day friendship could also be felt throughout the community -- not only for these moms and their sons, but for every veteran.
The name of Sgt. First Class David Hartman will soon be added to the Merced County Veterans Memorial Wall. He was killed in Pakistan in February.
