Fresno Police Helicopter makes emergency landing

FRESNO, Calif.

The helicopter made the landing on a grassy field at Williams Elementary in Central Fresno around 10:30pm Thursday night. Fresno Police say the pilot noticed a warning light inside the cockpit.

A short time later, police brought out mechanics to look at the helicopter to figure out what caused the warning light to turn on.

"It's a precautionary landing, not an emergency. We just always air on the side of emergency when it comes to protecting our people, our aircraft and our community," said Burke Farrah with the Fresno Police Department.

Mechanics gave the green light for the helicopter to fly again. The helicopter lifted off from Williams Elementary before midnight without any problems.
