Drug awareness conference held for Fresno students

FRESNO, Calif.

The Fresno Elks Lodge invited 100 students to a drug awareness event Saturday which also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Red Ribbon Week.

Fresno Police officers spoke to the children about peer pressure and drug prevention.

A Fresno Police K-9 officer also demonstrated his detection skills during the conference.

Valley Girl Scouts helped organize Saturday's event -- and created booths showing why drugs are not a good idea.
