Almond acreage breaks records in California

A record breaking year for almond growers in the Central Valley.

According to new numbers, California almond acreage hit an all-time record in 2012. The service says California had about 870,000 almond acres last year -- about four-percent more than in 2011.

Kern, Fresno, Merced and Stanislaus counties were the state's top almond-producing counties.
