Police say the victim had been shot several times. Crowds of people gathered around the crime scene to watch police conduct their investigation Monday night, but finding actual witnesses has been difficult.
"Typically, people come out when they say the police, to see what we're doing. But typically people don't come forward with information. They don't volunteer information. Somebody probably saw something here. It's a very busy intersection," said Madera Police Detective Sergeant Robert Salas.
Police haven't identified the victim, but say it was a young man. Investigators said it's too soon to know if the shooting was gang related.
