3/8/2011 Ag Report

FRESNO, Calif.

Farm advisors report one moth was caught in a trap at a vineyard in January. No additional insects have been caught since.

Napa County was the center of the infestation that started in 2009. Farm advisors think the populations have been greatly reduced. However, they do expect to find additional moths when the grapevines bloom.

Tuesday morning West Hills College broke ground on its Farm Of The Future in Coalinga.

The $14-million Ag Science Building has Shop space for precision agriculture, welding, heavy equipment, maintenance mechanics and other vocational training. More than 50 students take farming classes at West Hills. The facilities will also be used by West Hills' Rodeo Team.

The ground breaking took place at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Farm Of The Future on Gayle Avenue.
