The sudden spike in temperatures and the large snowpack have led to beautiful waterfalls, but have also caused the Merced River to spill over its banks in some areas.

Park officials had to close about forty spots at the Lower and North Pine campgrounds and about twenty cabins at Housekeeping Camp. But the heat has also improved the snowy conditions along Tioga Road, which will finally open Saturday at 8:00 a.m.

Tioga Road is an east-west route through the park. It usually opens in May, but avalanche conditions kept it closed later this year. All of the flooded campgrounds in Yosemite are expected to re-open by this weekend.
