Man robbed and pistol whipped in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

One happened on San Pablo and Belmont.

Police say the robbers then made their way to San Pablo and Bremer.

That's where officers arrested two people they say were responsible for the robberies.

Police say the men approached the first person at a bus stop near San Pablo and Belmont.

That's when police say the robber pistol whipped the person.

The robbers then ran away. Witnesses pointed officers in the direction of the two men.

Officers caught up with them and say they saw what may have been a second robbery attempt.

"When they were over in this area, they witnessed what they believed was an altercation between the suspects and what we believe now is a victim," Lt. John Papaleo of the Fresno Police Department said.

Officers chased down the men.

They are still trying to confirm if a second person was robbed.

The first victim was taken to the hospital. His condition has not been released.
