Clovis Unified is working cooperatively with Clovis Police Department in the investigation and prosecution of Neng Yang, a second grade teacher at Freedom Elementary School.

Clovis Unified states "Our school and District team are heartbroken to learn one of our teachers may have so seriously violated the trust and confidence of every member of our community and the students we serve," said Superintendent Janet Young. "We are working arm-in-arm with law enforcement to ensure they have full access to our schools and resources in their investigation of this case. Our first priority is the well-being of our students and we are using every option available to support the school community, our staff, and most importantly, the student and family involved."

Mr. Yang was immediately placed on leave Friday afternoon. The District will continue to work closely with law enforcement officials on their criminal investigation. In addition, the District intends to pursue Mr. Yang's dismissal from his teaching position.
