Valley pistachio crop on pace to break another record

Growers are now expecting to produce about 550-million pounds, which would beat the 2010 production record.

Despite the large crop, Ag officials say the individual nut sizes are a little smaller than growers have seen in the past. Growers are blaming the relentless August heat in the Valley for the smaller pistachios.

Harvest is expected to continue through the end of this month.
